Literacy Week
Week 10: Literacy
Week
Literacy Week helps raise
awareness of the importance of literacy at school and beyond.
There are many ways to get
involved and in this week’s activity, students are encouraged to spread the
love of reading. Parents are also encouraged to read books with their
child/children at home and record the number of pages read.
Inquiry:
In our inquiry time, the
whole week was packed with different kinds of interesting activities together
with the rest of the ELC students.
Last Monday, we had our
Teacher’s Play. The ELC teachers played a short story about the Gingerbread Man
for the students.
Tuesday was Read Aloud
stories for the students and a Parents Open Day for Preschool 2 and
Kindergarten.
Wednesday, the Preschool 3
and 4 classes had their Parents Open Day and had their Go on a Bear Hunt Activity.
Thursday, we combined the
Preschool 2 and 3 classes and they first went to Preschool 4 class and played the Bingo Letter and Sound Game with Ms. Brittany. Right after that, they moved to Ms. Ebony’s
class and made a Gingerbread Man Craft. And lastly, they decorated the
Gingerbread Man cookie with Ms. Bon and Ms. Yesim and ate afterwards.
Friday, we capped off our
week by welcoming the students from Penguin International School. We enjoyed being
a watcher as they do the Bear Hunt Activity with the Preschool 3 students.
