Week 6: Five Senses

This week we have been learning all about our 5 senses. We first explored our sense of sight. The class went on a scavenger hunt outside hunting for these pictures: tree, bicycle, stairs, slide, plant box, mailbox and ball. Another activity that we made related to this is the “Toilet Paper Roll Binoculars.”
今週は私たちが持っている「五感」について学びました。まずは「視覚（見る）」から。教室から飛び出し、次のものを探しました：木、自転車、階段、滑り台、植木鉢、郵便箱、ボール
またこの活動に関連して、トイレットペーパーの芯を使った「双眼鏡」を作りました。

For our sense of hearing, we played a guessing game. Different animal sounds were played where children guess each animal that made the sound. Furthermore, we played another listening game where different sound effects (like bells, ambulance, birds, rain, wind, piano, violin and telephone) where played as the children touch the printed photos on the carpet.
「聴覚（聞く）」のお話の時には、「あてっこゲーム」をしました。
色々な動物がたてる「音」を聞き、どんな動物が音をたてているのかを当てるゲームです。また、他のゲームではいろいろな効果音（ベル、救急車のサイレン、鳥の鳴き声、雨音、風の音、ピアノ、バイオリンそして電話）を聞き、カーペットに置かれたイラストから正解を探しました。

We explored our sense of smelling by closing our eyes and smelled the following items: lemon, flowers, scented candle, coffee and lotion as they thumbs up if it has “a good smell” and thumbs down if it’s “bad.” Moreover, we did the “Lemon Stamp” as our craft activity.
「嗅覚（におう）」では、目を閉じて、次のようなもののにおいをかぐ実験をしました：レモン、花、匂いつきのキャンドル、コーヒーなど。においをかいで、良いにおいであれば「Thumbs up（goodサイン）」。もし良いにおいでなければ「Thumbs down（badサイン）」を出しました。
実験の後には「レモンスタンプ」でクラフトを作りました。

Our sense of touch was explored through a mystery box sensory lesson. Children had a turn to blindly reach into a mystery box and guess what they felt inside.
「触覚（さわる）」では、ミステリーボックスを活用しました。
目隠しをして前が見えない状態でミステリーボックスの中に手を入れ、さわったものが何なのかを当てました。

In the previous week, we learned about our taste buds and how different parts of the tongue are able to taste different things (bitter, salty, sweet, sour). And this week, we had our “Sugar and Salt” tasting and tried some juice as well (mango and jasmine).
先週のテーマ学習の時間中、「味蕾（舌にある味を感じる場所）」について学んでいました。舌の色々な場所で、それぞれ違った味を感じるという内容です。（苦い、しょっぱい、甘い、酸っぱい）今週は、"Sugar and Salt（砂糖と塩）"の味見をし、さらに、ジュース（マンゴーとジャスミン）の味も試しました。

Our letter of the week is Cc. Cc is for cat, carrot and clock
今週のアルファベットは「Cc」です。cat, carrot, clockなど

Math:
算数

We focused on counting 1-10.
1から10までの数字を数える練習をしました。

Earthquake Drill:
地震避難訓練

Earthquake drills are one of the most important parts of an earthquake plan. They allow us to see how well things operate and to correct any problems.
地震のことを考えた時、避難訓練は欠かせないものの一つです。
避難訓練では、どのように対応し、そしてその対応が適切であったかどうか、問題点の洗い出しと改善にも役立ちます。

運動会本番に向けて小学校との合同練習と、運動会本番！！

Everyone did a great job and the children seem to enjoy their “Baby Shark” performance. They all looked so cute and I am so proud of them!!!
