The beginning of the school year can be emotional time for teachers, parents and children most especially. For some, the feeling is pure excitement while others are consumed by fear, anxiety and uncertainty. And as an educator, it is our role to reassure parents and children and to help them feel safe and secure.
新学期が始まって直後は、先生にとって、保護者にとって、そして何よりこどもたちにとってドキドキ緊張する時間です。新しい環境に対し、純粋にワクワクしている子がいれば、戸惑いや不安な表情を浮かべる子もいます。教育者としての私の役割は、子どもたちや保護者の皆さんに、ここが安全で安心できる場所だと思って頂けるよう手助けをしていくことだと思っています。

We have just completed our first whole week and I already can see the progress. The children are slowly settling in and getting more independent.
1週間目をつい先ほど終えたばかりですが、もうすでに子どもたちの成長が見られます。少しずつゆっくりと学校生活に慣れ、より自立していくことでしょう。

Morning Meeting 朝の会

We start our day with morning meeting. Morning meetings help create a safe space for learning. We use morning meetings to develop valuable social-emotional skills, create a culture of respect and trust, and prepare students to learn.
学校での一日は、朝の会から始まります。朝の会は安心して学べる環境を作るために役立ちます。朝の会では、社会性を育むために欠かせない"感情"や、相手や自分を大事にすること、信頼することを学び、安心して"学び"に取り組むための準備をします。

Everyday, we sing our “Good morning” song then students and teachers greet one another. Right after the greeting, we sing our “Hello” song followed with the attendance. The students then stick the animals with their names on our Attendance Wall and we count the number of students present for that day. We then check the calendar and the weather – singing the “Months of the Year”, “Days of the Week”, the “Weather” and the Seasons” song.
毎日"Good Morning"の歌を歌います。そしてお互いに挨拶をします。挨拶のあとにはその日の出欠をとりながら、"Hello"の歌を歌います。子どもたちは壁に貼ってある動物のイラストの上に自分の名前付きの顔写真を貼って、今日は何人のおともだちが学校に来ているのかを、皆で一緒に数えます。次に、"Months of the Year", "Days of the Week", the "Weather" や "Seasons" の歌などを楽しく歌いながら、カレンダーと今日のお天気を確認します。

Indoor and Outdoor Play --- Recess Time 自由遊び時間

Children need recess. It increases focus and it benefits every aspect of childhood development – physical development, of course, social, emotional and intellectual development as well.
こどもたちには"遊び"の時間が必要です。遊びは幼児期の子どもたちの発達の様々な面において、あらゆる恩恵を与えてくれるものです。遊びは、身体的な発達、もちろん、社会性や感情のコントロール、知的発達にも欠かせません。

We have just completed our first 7 days of school and they are already showing teamwork and kindness. Their social skills are in progress and they are slowly socializing with other students from other class. We have just started practicing for the upcoming Sports Festival and the students are really doing a great job!
最初の7日間を無事に乗り切りました！子どもたちはもうすでに、チームワークや思いやりの気持ちを見せてくれています。クラス内や、他の学年の子どもたちとも少しずつ関わり合いを持つようになりました。また、運動会に向けての練習も始めました。とっても一生懸命頑張っていますよ！

Inquiry time…　探求の時間

For the first week of the term, we will be focusing on the theme “All About Me.” This week, we started introducing ourselves using the following phrases “My name is … and I am 3 years old.
今学期最初の週は、"All About Me"（私のこと）をテーマに、様々な取り組みを行いました。"My Name is ... and I am 3 years old."（私の名前は〇〇です。3歳です。）というフレーズを使って、自己紹介をする練習をしました。

Teaching the alphabet is foundational for reading and writing. And at this age, children begin showing interest in learning alphabet letters. We started introducing the letters to them in a fun way through singing the alphabet song. We also started identifying the beginning letter of their names and made a beautiful craft.
アルファベットを教えることは、読み書きの基礎となる大事な部分です。こどもたちが文字への興味を示し始めるのも、ちょうど今このぐらいの年齢からです。こどもたちには、アルファベットの歌を歌いながら、楽しくアルファベットの文字を教えます。また、自分の名前にどんな文字が使われているのかに注目し、素敵なアルファベットのクラフトを作りました。
